REVAMPED ROCKETS READY TO REV
Friday July 07, 2017
The BMR Rockets head to the Black Country on Monday to take on defending league champions Wolverhampton as the SGB Premiership season resumes following its World Cup break.

With the Rockets currently fifth in the table – just outside the Play-Off zone – and the Wolves nestled in behind Belle Vue at the top of the standings, the match takes on an added importance in the chase for the final four. The fixture also marks the first appearance in Rye House colours of Ben Barker and Justin Sedgmen, who were signed last week in order to bolster their side’s Play-Off drive.

Says Team Manager Peter Schroeck of Monday’s meeting at Monmore Green, “Everybody is buzzing. The changes have lifted the whole club a little. There is a saying that “If you don’t change things, then nothing changes” and we have taken that on board in bringing in Ben (Barker) and Justin (Sedgmen) in order to re-vitalise our push for the Play-Offs.

“Our two new recruits will really want to prove something. They want this opportunity in the Premiership, and they know what it means.

“Having Bomber (Chris Harris) and Ben at No.1 and 2 should set us up nicely for the opening race. People can expect fireworks because they are both out-and-out racers.

“We’ve appointed Scott (Nicholls) as the new Team captain to lead us. He’s really positive about that appointment. As we all know, he is a very good talker; he works well with the lads and he can do much more than just his riding job.

“We’re looking forward to Monday. Wolverhampton is a tough place to go, as their home record shows, but we are heading there to do something and really emphasise our fresh ambition for the Play-Offs.”
