BMR Rockets Chris Harris and Ricky Wells have both been named to their respective countries’ teams for the forthcoming World Cup.

Newly established Rye House No.1 Harris will represent Great Britain in Saturday’s opening round at King’s Lynn (7pm start), with Wells appointed as captain of the United States side that competes alongside the Lions, Australia and the Czech Republic in the meeting.

For Bomber, it marks a return to the Lions after previously winning a World Cup bronze medal with the side, and he will join skipper Craig Cook, debutant Steve Worrall and 2015 Rocket Robert Lambert in the main quartet, with Adam Ellis completing the team as the designated U-21 reserve.

Wells, meanwhile, will make his eleventh appearance for the Eagles in the competition, heading a youthful side that also features former Ipswich Witch Gino Manzares, Luke Becker, Dillon Ruml and Broc Nicol.

The meeting winners will advance directly to the World Cup Final, which will be staged at Leszno in Poland, and also feature the defending champion Poles, on Saturday, July 8th. The second and third placed finishers will join the similarly placed teams from the second round (Sweden vs Denmark vs Russia vs Latvia, in Sweden on July 4th) in a race-off in Leszno on July 7th, with the winners of that “last chance” event qualifying for the following night’s Final.
